What happens when you call

You speak to an engineer, not a call centre script. Tell us what you can see, hear or smell and we will usually have a good idea of the cause before we set off, which means we arrive with the right parts.

When we get there we find the fault, explain it in plain English and tell you what the repair will cost. Only once you are happy do we start work. If a part has to be ordered, we make the property safe and get back to you with a firm date.

Turning your water off in a hurry

Your internal stopcock is usually under the kitchen sink, in a downstairs cupboard or near the front door. Turn it clockwise to shut the supply off, then open the cold taps to drain the pipes. If water is anywhere near sockets, lights or the fuse board, switch the electrics off at the consumer unit first.

It is worth finding your stopcock now, while nothing is wrong. Knowing where it is can save thousands of pounds of damage later.
