Why it must be a Gas Safe registered engineer

By law, anyone carrying out work on gas appliances or pipework in the UK must be Gas Safe registered. It is not a formality — badly fitted gas work risks leaks, fires and carbon monoxide poisoning, and can invalidate your home insurance and appliance warranties.

Carbon monoxide: what to look for

Carbon monoxide has no smell, but there are warning signs on the appliance itself: yellow or orange flames instead of crisp blue, sooty or black marks around the casing, pilot lights that keep going out, and more condensation than usual in the room.

Headaches, dizziness, nausea or tiredness that improve when you leave the house should never be ignored. Fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm, have appliances checked annually, and call us if anything looks wrong.
